Being overdressed for the interview can affect your chances
Being overdressed for the vorstellungsgesprch can affect your chancesBeing overdressed for the interview can affect your chancesOnce you schedule an in-person interview, these are just some of the questions that might be swimming in your head What if you show up to your interview and youre either over or underdressed? Will it even make that much of a difference? How bad is it to be overdressed for an interview?According to data released in the 2013 Job bewerbungsinterview Anxiety Survey, 92% of employed Americans get stressed out about job interviews, but its not just the actual interview that stresses people out. Figuring out what to wear for your next interview can often become just as stress inducing as wondering what questions they will ask you. With the rise of startups and tech companies, figuring out what to wear for your next interview has become more confusing than ever, but these tips will help you navigate the process with ease. How bad is it to be overdressed for an intervi ew? Really bad.If youre interviewing at a company known for their low maintenance dress code and company culture, showing up to your interview in a suit will show that you havent done your research on the company and the environment. Even worse, showing up in a suit could mean that you did research the company and didnt care about the dress code and rules. What can you do to ensure that youre properly dressed?Research the company to figure out what the company culture is like. Company culture often dictates the dress code and how formal or casual people will dress. Use websites like Glassdoor to your advantage. ansicht platforms allow users to rate and comment on companies, giving you inside knowledge about the company culture, and what its really like to work there. Often people will discuss dress code and the general vibe of the office.Another option is to search for employees on LinkedIn. Observe what employees are wearing in their LinkedIn profile photos to get a better indicatio n of the daily dress code. Finally, if all else fails, pick up the phone and ask someone what you should wear or what the general dress code is. This is something so simple, yet almost no one does this. If you want to make sure that you wont be overdressed for an interview, simply pick up the phone and call the front desk or a recruiter that youre working with.If the dress code is really casual, stick with the guidelines, but ensure that you look put together and ready for work. This is the most important thing to remember when youre figuring out what to wear for your next interview. I always suggest being a step above the dress code, but if you do decide that it would be in your best interest to come completely casual, just make sure that you look put together. Regardless if the dress code is super casual, you do not want to look like you just rolled out of bed. Youre totenstill interviewing for a job.If you do decide to go with jeans, make sure they are dark wash jeans without any r ips or tears. Similarly, if you opt for a t-shirt, make sure that it is clean, plain without graphics or logos, and wrinkle free. If you dont like to iron, (I hate ironing) invest in a mini steamer. It will change your life and make it super simple to get the wrinkles out of any of your clothes. There is a big difference between a plain, wrinkle free t-shirt and dark wash jeans than a dirty graphic t-shirt and ripped jeans. While they are essentially the same items, they look drastically different, and will make a completely different impression upon others, especially in an interview. How bad is it to be overdressed for an interview? Depending on the company it could be detrimental and could be the reason why you dont get the job. Showing up completely overdressed suggests that you didnt research the company and have not paid any attention to the company culture.Employers want to ensure that they hire employees who will fit in with the general office vibe, and coming to an interview overdressed can be a major red flag. When youre determining what to wear for your next interview, do some research on the company dress code and company culture, and dress accordingly. With the rise of business casual and completely casual dress codes, figuring out what to wear for your next interview can be tricky, however if you follow these simple steps, youll be good to goGood luckThis article was originally published on CreateandCultivate.com.

Why women at work become intentionally invisible
Why women at work become intentionally invisibleWhy women at work become intentionally invisibleYou have to speak up and get noticed to get ahead at work, but some women are intentionally opting out in a strategy known as intentional invisibility, according to a new study highlighted in Harvard Business Review. These are women who choose getting things done quietly over speaking up at work, women who soften their demands with niceties, and are ultimately liked but unappreciated for their hard work. They recognize that taking credit for your work assertively leads to promotions and stops others from overlooking your accomplishments, but in spite of this knowledge, the women are purposefully choosing a different path. Why women are staying behind the scenes at workAnalyzing 86 interviews and 36 discussion groups with women in a professional development program at a large nonprofit, researchersPriya Fielding-Singh,Devon Magliozzi, and Swethaa Ballakrishnen found that women in their study - who ranged fromentry-level to VP-level - were purposefully putting themselves out of the running for leadership for a multitude of reasons. For some, being passive was meant to avoid conflict and backlash. They did not let on how confident and strong they were at work to avoid backlash from peers. As Gloria, one woman who worked in a male-dominated industry, put it One of my personal goals and self-learning over the course of the past 35 years is that I had to moderate my very strong personality and strong opinions on things. Perhaps the women recognized that they are mora likely to get overlooked research shows that women can do thesame work as men but are less likely to get rewarded for it. Or perhaps they recognized that there can be a double standard for being disagreeable. When women argued at work, they were seen as control freaks, when men did the same, they were seen as tough negotiators, as one study found. For other women, speaking up would mean adopting the behaviors o f the men in power around them. To remain true to themselves, they did not act like male leaders who stood at the front of the room talking up their accomplishments. They saw being visible at work as being self-interested and chose to remain behind the scenes. For other women, being visible at work was one more pressure they could not handle on top of handling home responsibilities like raising children. Is the solution for individual women to lean in and speak up more? No, the researchers suggest that the answer is more structural. In order for women to become authentic leaders at work, their workplaces should move beyond the default of men in leadership. That means valuing the contributions of women behind the scenes and fighting back against implicit biases at work. For managers, that means using concrete evidence over your feelings about an employee in your performance evaluation, the researchers said.It also means highlighting different styles of leadership. Most organizations v alue leaders who stand at the front of the room and take credit. This stereotypically masculine definition of leadership leaves many womens contributions overlooked, the researchers said. By valuing leadership attributes thatwomen apply more often than men- like being inspirational and inviting participatory decision making- organizations can elevate women without pushing them to adapt their behaviors to masculine norms. For women who feel like they cannot balance work and home, companies could offer childcare and more flexible time, so that women are more able to take charge at work. Organizations need to recognize that women continue to work an unpaid second shift at home, the researchers warned.

Before you start filling out job applications, be sure that you take the time to find out what information you will need to provide to prospective employers. Itâs a good idea to put together a resume, even though many employers wonât ask for one. It will give you the opportunity to organize and categorize your experience, and can be useful when filling out applications to maintain consistency and accuracy in filling in your work dates and experiences. Plus, itâs good to have a starting point that you can add to and edit as you gain experience over the next few years. Practice filling out an application before you start actually applying for jobs. Heres an example of a job application you can print and use to get started. If youre not sure about something on the application, ask for help from a family member, guidance counselor or friend. Heres how to ask for a job application.Neatness counts. Have a friend or parent with nice handwriting help you fill out your paper applications if your handwritingis subpar. For example, suppose that you only spent a fraction of your time generating documents in your campus job, but it will be the primary function inthe job youre applying for. List that activity first on the application when describing your campus job, so your key qualification is easily noticed. Use action words to lead your phrases when describing past jobs. Employers of teens value reliability, especially in terms of attendance and punctuality. Try to incorporate references to perfect attendance and punctuality, if possible.Dont forget to include honors or awards. Employers will likely perceive achievements like a competitive GPA or membership into the Honor Societyas evidence of a strong work ethic.Get a list of references. Most employers will request three or four references. People who can vouch for your work ethic and responsibility are fine to use as a character reference if you dont have employment references. You should ask several peoplewho might be willing to give you a positive recommendation, should they be contacted by a potential employer. Be prepared to furnish the names, job titles and contact information for your references. If you havent held a formal job, consider asking families for whom you babysit or have done odd jobs, as well as teachers or coaches. Inform people ahead of time if you plan to list them as a reference so they wont be surprised if they get a call or email message from an employer.Check your voicemail. You will need to list your phone number on the application, so be sure that the voicemail message on your cell is suitable for an employer to hear. Check messages regularly, so you dont miss any calls from employers. Also review this list of what not to do when youre applying for jobs, so you dont make a mistake that could cost you an interview or a job offer. If you take the time to prepare in advance of putting your applications in, the process will be much smoother â" and youll speed up the process of getting hired for a new job.

How to encourage confidence and control your ego
How to encourage confidence and control your ego How to encourage confidence and control your ego Like many of you, my ego is fed when Iâm acknowledged for my achievements and accomplishments. My confidence is given a boost and Iâm ready to tackle the next project. As with many things in life, balance and moderation is key. Too much ego can be detrimental to success when it becomes self-centered.People often react in two different ways when success lands at their feet. They can either gain confidence in their abilities and their contribution to the world, or they can let their ego spiral out of control so it seeks more and more approval.Confidence and ego are two very different things, and in the workplace, these differences can make or break your career. Confidence is faith in yourself and your abilities. Ego operates out of self-interest and demands to be seen as ârightâ so it resists feedback and criticism.Confidence requires hard work, a sincere passion for what we do, and a sense of accomplishment. Ego is self-righteous, selfish, and judgmental of others. If we canâ t control ego, bad behavior will follow. All sense of teamwork is thrown out the window, a closed mind is blind to innovation and new ideas, and the âme firstâ attitude alienates those around us.Here are 4 ways to encourage confidence, and at the same time, control ego:1. Look For Ways To Be HumbleMuhammad Ali once said, âItâs hard to be humble when youâre as great as I am.â This is the attitude we foster when ego takes control. We become so self-absorbed with our own greatness that we isolate ourselves from the real world. When we remove ego, we uncover our humility. While some may define humility as low self-esteem, itâs actually emotional neutrality. Itâs an attitude where we donât need to put ourselves above others, but we donât put ourselves below them, either. We have confidence in ourselves yet recognize that everyone makes a contribution. Humility allows us to behave and react from a sense of purpose, not our emotions.I donât need to live up to your exp ectations, and you donât need to live up to mine. When I value my own sense of self-worth, itâs easier to have confidence in myself and appreciate others. In his book, âThe Obstacle Is The Way,â Ryan Holiday writes that when we remove ego, weâre left with whatâs real- a humble sense of who and what we are. Ego is always fragile and artificial, but earned confidence will endure because it has heft and value. How To Make It Work For You: When youâre tempted to offer unsolicited advice to others, offer a better solution, or feel compelled to demonstrate how smart you are, take a moment to be humble. Remind yourself that humility is a matter of self-esteem. The greater your sense of self-worth, the easier it is to encourage others.2. Connect With A Higher Purpose (than just yourself)Often itâs our ego that gets us out the door and into our first job. We want to save the world, or at least our piece of it. Itâs all we need at first, but if our mission is not connected to things that produce value and meaning for us, weâll run out of gas somewhere in middle age. Thatâs when the cycle repeats itself as young, hungry, and ambitious whipper-snappers start to nip at our heels. We can only stay on the merry-go-round for so long if ego is all that sustains us.Our ego takes a hit if weâre not tethered to something that connects us to a purpose higher than ourselves. Itâs no wonder we find success to be cold and empty; no wonder we lose the energy that once propelled us.Steve Jobs told the graduating class at Stanford in 2004:âYour time is limited, so donât waste it living someone elseâs life. Donât be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other peopleâs thinking. Donât let the noise of otherâs opinions drown out your own inner voice.âWho am I? What am I doing? Where am I going? What is my role in the world? We find it difficult to answer these questions because success and ego pull our attention in other directions. Eg o tells us that meaning comes from our accomplishments and power over others, and that material things will bring us fulfillment. Confidence springs from a clear understanding that we use our talents, skills, and abilities in ways that truly do bring us satisfaction. How To Make It Work For You: If you love what you do, and it gives you a sense of value and meaning, stick with it! If, however, you experience moments of uncertainty, take the time to reflect on what you would do if money were no object. As other great leaders and thinkers have done, spend time in the wilderness so you can gain perspective. The wilderness is a place where you can quiet the noise around you, and the noise in your head, to hear what you need to hear. Everything you need can be found inside if you just listen for it.3. Give Up Your Need To Always WinOur ego can drive us to accomplish great things if it is fed with the right motivation. A healthy ego will give you the confidence to always be your best. Psyc hiatrist Michael MacCoby provided an insightful analysis of people who are driven by a confident ego in his book, âThe Gamesman.â Here is an excerpt:âThey are cooperative but competitive; detached and playful but compulsively driven to succeed. Their main goal is to be known as a winner and their deepest fear is to be labeled a loser.âMost successful people are motivated by their need to win. We tend to measure our success by what others say about us, and how we perceive our own performance. When the ego is in control, our self-worth is defined by what others say, and weâll always be insecure. On the other hand, we can be our own worst critic. Often, we would never speak to other people in the same harsh manner in which we talk to ourselves. How To Make It Work For You: Reflect back on both your wins and losses. What motivated you to win? What emotions did you experience over your losses? Dig down until you uncover what motivates you and what produces your negative emotions . For example: in my case, my need to win is tied to a deep belief that I need to perform in order to feel worthy of love.4. Remember Your MannersWhen we are stressed or overwhelmed, our frail and artificial ego feels threatened. In order to deal with conflicts and problems in life, our ego deploys a range of defense mechanisms so we feel better about ourselves. Many of these defense mechanism are healthy, but others are considered to be immature; and when the ego gets out of control, it will use brute force to stay on top.One sign that we are not in control of our ego is when we start to feel superior to our colleagues and friends. Itâs never OK to talk down to someone or act as though weâre better than them. Our pathetic ego feels threatened and wants to level the playing field to ensure we get back on top.How To Make It Work For You: When you find your ego out of control, remember your manners. Donât succumb to an egotistic response; instead, be polite. When you use good ma nners, you put the brakes on a tendency to care only about yourself. Politeness is an effective mindfulness trigger that helps your ego feel concern for the other person. This article was originally published on LaraeQuy.com.

Hiring a Financial Controller
Hiring a Financial Controller Hiring a Financial Controller Your company has grown so quickly recently that you need expert financial leadership and oversight. You need someone who can monitor the accounting and finance departments' policies and procedures, set budgets, provide guidance on complex tax and compliance issues, and contribute to the financial strategy discussions at your company. In other words, you need a financial controller. In most companies that employ a controller, the person in the position plays a crucial role. The controller usually oversees the day-to-day operations of the finance department and manages financial reporting. The person in this role has input and influence on the company's important financial decisions and can have a strong hand in determining the health of the company. Looking for a controller to move your business forward? Give us a call. 1.855.432.0924 With so much riding on this controller position, it's critical to make sure you hire the right person for the job. The skills and attributes below should top your list of must-haves when you're looking for a financial controller. A firm grasp on the numbers First and foremost, a controller must have a strong understanding of all functions of the typical accounting department, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll and clearing. But the right candidate will not simply show competence in accounting procedures. He or she will also be able to answer tough questions and manage others in your financial department. Most controllers have a master's degree in accounting or business administration, and many are CPAs or certified management accountants (CMAs). Do you know the latest controller salary benchmarks? In-depth knowledge of the entire finance function Look for someone who has the expertise necessary to maintain all financial aspects of your company, even if your company already has a CFO. Your top candidates should be comfortable negotiating contracts and insurance policies, reviewing invoices, and meeting with tax advisors and auditors. If you find a controller with experience establishing and executing internal financial controls, that person will be less likely to be intimidated if he or she is asked to step in and help with the administration of financial planning and reporting. A passion for the details, an ability to explain them One of the most important skills a successful controller can have is the ability to stay organized. Controllers have to keep up with so much information, often tracked in complex spreadsheets, that orderliness is vital. Excellent soft skills are crucial, too. A controller must be able to relay difficult, dense information to upper management in a precise and easy-to-understand way. Controllers who are good communicators can also provide your company with valuable analysis and expert opinions on financial topics. The personality to get along with coworkers It's easy to focus on the technical skills required of a controller, but business skills such as the ability to work with a team, negotiate successfully and solve conflicts are equally important. Your company's controller will be given a great deal of responsibility and will collaborate with departments throughout the firm. This means it's imperative to make sure the person you hire for the position will fit in with your current teams, particularly those in upper management. Hiring a controller can be a big step. Depending on the size of your company, the candidate who lands the position could be in charge of the firm's entire financial state. Start by seeking organized team players who excel in accounting and are not intimidated by the thought of providing complete financial support. Questions to ask controller job candidates Knowing what you need in a financial controller makes asking the right questions much easier when it's time for the interview. Getting answers to the following 12 questions helps you ensure that the person you hire will step into the role ready to succeed from Day One: What steps did you take to reduce expenses and/or increase revenues at past companies you've worked for? What sort of experience do you have in establishing internal financial controls? What are some procedural improvements you've made at past jobs? Are you able to explain financial matters in a way that the management team can understand? In what ways have you helped junior members of the financial team improve their skill sets? What steps have you taken when it comes to continuing education in your career? When hiring financial staff, what qualities do you look for? How would you rate yourself as a motivator? Recall a time when you experienced an impasse in the workplace. What steps did you take to help resolve it? What's the biggest challenge you've faced in your career, and how did you deal with it? Why are you the best candidate for this position? Is there anything else you'd like to add to help influence our hiring decision? No hiring decision should be taken lightly, but that maxim is especially true for the position of controller. Maintain focus on what your company needs and how each candidate embodies essential qualities, and you'll greatly increase your odds of hiring the right person the first time around.

1 characteristic separates the hopeful from the heartbroken
1 characteristic separates the hopeful from the heartbroken 1 characteristic separates the hopeful from the heartbroken Let me tell you about these two mysterious characters standing next to me with our backs to the Thames river. It started May of 2016 - I received a weird tweet from some random English guy. He wanted to work on a book together.I ignore the message.âLetâs work on a book togetherâ typically means this:âI have no experience, no expertise, and no following, but Iâd like you to offer me the platform you worked so hard to build.â3 weeks later, the guy followed up. HE FOLLOWED UP. I agreed to a call. The guyâs name is is Ash Ali (in the middle of the pic). Right after his wife gave birth to his first daughter, Ash quit his job to join a startup with no profit, just potential. Later, that company went public for £1.5 billion pounds (yes, billion). Weâve been working together ever since. In a world of infinite distraction, Ash worked hard to get my attention. Now, he and I are turning a vision of his into a reality.Hustle is a good thing, but thatâs not where this post is goi ng.- - - Far left in the picture is Hasan Kubba. Hasan is a search engine optimization expert, entrepreneur, and investor. A few years into his successful career as a digital marketer, Has saw a poster which caught his eye:âDigital Marketing Network Night - Learn new trends. Meet new friends.âThat night, he met Ash. The two of them connected that night - instant kindred spirits. Neither of them had attended a networking event before. I also donât think they have been to one since. Now, they are building a training company together counseling young entrepreneurs.Serendipity is a good thing, but thatâs also not where this post is going.Itâs not going to either of those places because I havenât talked much about the third guy in this picture - me.Me, who wanted to publish a book so badly at age 19.Me, who finished writing assignments for my cousins and girlfriend.Me, who spent hours for one sentence to put in a story which paid me $7.50.Me, who wrote 3 fiction novels to people who will never read them.Me, who became a technical writer because it sounded fun (it wasnât).Me, who finally realized this:Anything worth having or becoming takes patience.Ash and I worked for his book for the better part of a year. Then we found Has. Then we worked ANOTHER YEAR. Then we found people interest in the book. Then we met in person for the first time.In my experience, you donât rich quickly. You donât get fame quickly. You donât get deep relationships quickly. Instead, you follow the process:Work - Improve - Wait. And then two years later, you may find yourself in a country youâve never been to, arm in arm with people youâve just met, chatting like old friends.Keep going. Keep believing. Keep dreaming.Much love as always ?- Todd BThis article first appeared on Medium.

7 ways to make money fast, quick, and in a hurry 7 ways to make money fast, quick, and in a hurry One of the most common questions I hear is, how to make money fast? Maybe youâre faced with an unexpected home repair, or your car decided to call it quits and now youâre in the need for some extra cash quick, fast and in hurry (like yesterday). If you are looking to make money on the side, then you will need to be careful, there a lot of âget rich quickâ schemes and work at home scams. In todayâs post, we look at legitimate ways to earn money, launch a business online, and even build some mostly passive income.I am going to share with you how to make money fast. Follow Ladders on Flipboard!Follow Laddersâ magazines on Flipboard covering Happiness, Productivity, Job Satisfaction, Neuroscience, and more! Ground RulesYou may have seen the lists on online; â100 plus ways to make moneyâ quickly or âhow to make money fast onlineâ. Most of these lists are merely affiliate link spam. I mean no disrespect to fellow bloggers, but Iâm not going to add to the noise and suggest you waste your afternoon on survey sites filling out surveys. If you need money now to cover rent, or get the car fixed, reward apps and sign up bonuses might not cut it.Plus, if you already did the shopper app, sign up bonus, âpledged your body to science thingâ the last time you clunker needed a repair, then it is likely your in need of some creative new ways to earn an income. To be included on this list, the option needs to be a real way to make money and have the potential to pay greater than a living wage. Plus, it had to be quick because thatâs why youâre here.Save MoneySaving Money is Making Money. You may have heard the saying âYou canât âoutwork a bad dietâ; finances are similar. Before launching your creative new side hustle, it makes sense to sit down and look for opportunities to reduce unnecessary expenses. Now, Iâm not suggesting you give up the items you and your family value and enjoy, rather letâs just trim the fat a b it.Letâs look at the low-hanging fruit: Comparison shop your Life, Health, Auto, Home Ownersâ, and Liability insurance. Did you quit smoking or lose weight? Ask your health and life insurance co.âs if they will reduce rates Challenge inaccuracies on your credit report. If you improve your score, ask lenders and insurance co.âs if they can reduce your rates. Check your deductibles, limits, and features on health and property casualty insurance. Many people are overpaying for lower limits or features they may not really need. 1. Make Money Helping OthersDonate Blood Plasma. This hack comes from fellow blogger Melissa Blevins, who has been making upwards of 400 dollars a month donating blood plasma. If making a few extra dollars wasnât good enough, donating blood plasma can save lives. Need more reason to donate, donating blood plasma can burn 650 calories, beats the exercise bike for an hour! (420 calories)2. Donât Overlook This Money Saving ItemSell your unwanted life insurance policies. Maybe you did a review of your life insurance policies and decided you have an older policy that you no longer need or want. Before you close it out for the policy for cash value consider if it can be sold for more money on the secondary market.Generally, this option is reserved for people age 62 or older, however, depending on the features of the policy this may be an option for younger individuals.Tip: if you have life insurance where the cost basis is significantly higher than the cash value, rather than sur render the policy, consider a 1035 exchange into an annuity where you can use the tax loss to offset gains in the annuity.3. Make Money Online and at Home FlippingBecome a flipper. If you have a keen eye and are willing to do some research, you can make decent money flipping items. Check out Craigslist and eBay and see what items are selling for. Start with small items until you have a sense of how to flip. There are several resources online on how to start reselling on eBay. However, the easiest way is to sell your stuff first, go through your house and look for any items and you no longer need, such as old books, the hobby gear you picked up and never used, and older electronics.Itâs a fun way to kick off that decluttering you have been intending to start.Once you have built up a reputation and have some experiencing selling on eBay, itâs time to look for items to sell. The easiest path to find items is to start with what you know. If you are into video games than considering buying and selling games, if you collect antiques, then buy and sell antiques.Additionaly, donât rule out handmade items, handcrafted goods can do well on eBay. However, Etsy is probably a better venue for your homemade goods.Example, Local farmers in my area love 275 Gallon Caged IBC Toteâs, used ones sell for 150 dollars in the area. I found a person on Craigslist who sells them for 75 dollars a piece about an hour drive from me. After a little on the phone negotiating I was able to pick up 15 totes for 50 dollars apiece. It took the Mrs. and I less than three hours to pick up the totes and return. We kept a few totes for ourselves to harvest rainwater and sold the rest off for a nice profit.Looking for more information on how to flip for fast money? Check out my interview with Norm. The Art of Flipping.4. Make Money Quickly With PhotosSell your photos online. Have you built up a massive collection of photos from your travels? If so turn your passion for photography into money in your pocket. Website developers and bloggers are constantly looking for photos to use on their sites. Consider selling your art on sites like twenty20, iStock, or SmugMug.Prices can range from a few cents to twenty-plus dollars. Make sure you review all the fine print, some of the sites do not allow you to offer the same photos on several sites. The key to making money online with your photos is thinking outside the box. Turn your photos into products, such as mugs, mouse pads or puzzles. Also, donât limit your self to just selling your own digital photos. Historical photos sell well on websites such as Etsy.com and eBay. Travel to local estate sales, yard sales, and flee markets, you can often pick up old photos and albums inexpensively and sell them for a nice profit.Note: older advertising also sells well, at a local car show a gentleman was selling ads from old magazines for $15 a piece. 5. Make Money Online as a Virtual Assistant or FreelancerBecome a social media virtual assistant. Do you love Pinterest or Instagram? Many brands and bloggers do not know how to correctly use these social media platforms. Offer your expertise to coach or act as a social media manager. Itâs a win-win: the brand gets the right type of social media exposure and you can make money doing something you enjoy. How much could money could you make as a VA? Some VAâs make between $14 and $25 an hour, others charge $40 and up. If you are great at making Pinterest images and Instagram creatives, you could charge brands upwards of $50 an hour. To get the best value for your work, it helps to have a social media following of your own to demonstrate your work online.Tip: You may be tempted to offer your services on sites like Fiverr or Upwork, customers of the sites are looking for rock bottom prices. if you offer a quality premium service engage blogs and brands in the more popular networking groups or reach out to them on social media.Consider Freelance WritingFreelancing writing is a great way to earn money online from home. The advantage to freelance writing is you have a built-in customer and you know exactly how much you will get paid. According to a survey by ClearVoice, âmost intermediate to advanced freelance writers charge between 10 cents and $1 per word.âDepending on your level of experience and speed of writing, an intermediate writer could make between 20 and 40 dollars per hour.
